HARVARD CARR-RYAN CENTER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

Promoting Meaningful Work in New Ways

At the Carr-Ryan Center, I took on the challenge of expanding the Center’s reach to new audiences and reimagining how we communicate our work. I helped lead a shift toward an issue-driven strategy that highlighted pressing human rights challenges and made their relevance clear and compelling.

Human Forward Stories Through Video

I led the launch of a new multimedia video initiative that integrated interviews, event footage, and animated explainers to tell issue-driven, human-centered stories—expanding our social media reach and audience engagement.

Human Rights in Focus: A video explainer series that uses a mixed-media approach to translate data and insights from the Center’s research, podcasts, and events into engaging content that highlights critical human rights issues.

Justice Matters: Introduced video into the Carr-Ryan Center’s podcast promotion strategy by producing full-length video episodes for YouTube and repurposing short clips for social media and other promotional channels.

Making a Movement: For Human Rights Day 2024, I created an animated video featuring impactful quotes from Carr-Ryan Center faculty, fellows, and affiliates to celebrate and reflect on the movement for human rights.

Iran at a Crossroads: Human Rights in a Changing Landscape: A video highlighting the human rights crisis going on in Iran while promoting an event on the topic.

Global LGBTQI+ Activist Summit: Each year, LGBTQI+ leaders from around the world convene at Harvard Kennedy School for the International LGBTQI+ Activism Summit—an immersive gathering where activists share their stories, strategies, and visions for change. From confronting stigma to advancing equality in challenging contexts, these changemakers exchange hard-won lessons and build powerful global networks. I filmed and edited the summit’s content, integrating motion graphics and music to amplify their voices and bring their impactful stories to life.

Promoting Events

Over the Fall and Spring semesters at Harvard Kennedy School, the Carr-Ryan Center hosted more than 20 events bringing together scholars and experts to discuss today’s most pressing human rights issues. In my role, I was responsible for designing promotional graphics for these events and managing their social media promotion.

Highlighting Human Rights on Social

I led social media campaigns across the Center’s platforms to highlight key human rights milestones, raise awareness of ongoing human rights violations, and showcase the work of our fellows and affiliates.

Translating Complex Data and Research

As the primary designer for all academic papers, publications, and research at the Center, I translated complex data into visually engaging, accessible designs that resonated with a broad range of audiences.
